About Us

Some stories grow with time.
Ours has grown for 35 years.

In the summer of 1990, Michael Tate and Emma Moss opened the doors to a modest boutique on a lively street in Chicago. What started as a shared vision between husband and wife — to create a place where style, quality, and personal service would always come first — became the foundation of Tate & Moss.

From the very beginning, our philosophy was simple: clothing should feel timeless, effortless, and personal. We carefully selected each piece, not just for its beauty, but for its craftsmanship and the way it could become part of someone’s life. Over the years, our boutique became more than a store — it became a community. Generations of customers have walked through our doors, finding not only garments, but also advice, friendship, and a sense of belonging.

As Chicago grew and fashion evolved, Tate & Moss grew with it. In addition to our brick-and-mortar boutique, we launched our online shop, making it possible to share our collections across the United States while staying true to the care and personal attention that define us.

Today, 35 years later, the heart of Tate & Moss remains unchanged. Every fabric we choose, every detail we consider, and every guest we welcome reflects the same values Michael and Emma started with back in 1990: quality, trust, and a love for timeless style.

We are proud to celebrate more than three decades of fashion, family, and community. And we’re honored that you are part of our story.

With love,
